So what happened to the rain? The first band of moisture lifted out of Mammoth around noon today and the let the area dry out.
As this next band of moisture came in it was intense enough to drag down the snow levels to 7500 feet.
Right now snow is falling in the 2-4 inches per hour range, looking at radar this intense snowfall will be out of the area around 8:30 PM. After that snow will continue but in the light to moderate range.
Snow fall totals so far are est. @ 30-55 inches from 9000 feet up to the top. The snow is a very heavy wet base snow.
Roads in town are r1 at this time, watch for flooded out areas that will drain by the morning.
As we move thru the next week we have a winter storm warning starting at 4 am on Monday and going to 4am on Thursday.
We could see 4-8 feet of the fresh stuff to cover up the rain effected snow from 7500 feet up.
I will have a more detailed update in the morning, been a long day. Pray for snow. Snowman out
